Exciting Times Ahead: Preparing for Marriage!

This season, God is setting the stage for something incredible! For those contemplating marriage, now is the time to dive into meaningful conversations with your partner. Consider seeking the wisdom of a trusted Christian mentor or counselor. Why? Because sometimes an outside perspective can reveal insights we might miss and help us see things in a new light. It's time to think about becoming equally yoked for the future. What does that mean? As Scripture says, light has no fellowship with darkness. We are called to be separate from the world to be united with God. If you're here, you likely understand this, so apply that principle to your relationship. Set your relationship apart from the world's ways; that's part of why we have wedding ceremonies. Jesus said, "If you deny me before men, I'll deny you before God." When you truly love someone, that love can't be hidden. Boundaries are essential, and making your relationship public is part of that. Let's briefly discuss what else needs to surface before marriage. Do you share the same beliefs? Do you want children? Where do you want to live? How will you manage the household? What are the roles and order, knowing there can be only one true head of the house? Discuss the experiences that shaped you into who you are today and delve into the "why." Why the "why"? To gain perspective and understanding, which brings clarity and security. This knowledge will help you love and navigate each other with respect and care. We can make plans and dream big, but it's the Lord who directs our paths. Will you let Him? Will you partner with Him together? How will you handle stress and manage tough conversations? While it's important to discuss the house and car, these are secondary. A kingdom marriage centered on God means we can plan all we want, but ultimately, we trust God to guide us, even through surprises. There's never a perfect time for kids, for instance, but God equips those He calls. When you come together, can you trust God in everything and unite instead of panicking when uncertainty arises? These are the conversations you need to have. What do love and intimacy look like for each of you? God wants you to be of one mind with each other, just as we are with Him. That's what God is preparing you for. You don't need to have everything perfect right away, but these discussions will help you discern God's will and timing. Anything worthwhile takes time and effort. Remember, the grass isn't greener on the other side; it's green where you water it. Is this the grass you want to nurture for life?
