Prayer for the Prodigal Child: Seeking Guidance and Protection
This prayer is for the wayward son or daughter, the prodigal son.
Dear Father, you know my heart, and I love my children no matter what! Where I have erred as a parent, please forgive me and give me the strength and faith to make lasting corrections. Help me remain in you and stand firm in my beliefs, my examples, and in the way you guide me for each child—to discipline them and myself. Show me how to speak to them with authority, but also with love and support for who they are. Guide me as we navigate these challenging years where they are learning to be more independent and becoming more involved with the world. Lord, you know the condition of the world and the people; you know the dangers of them becoming lost in the ways of the world. I pray that you'd protect us all. Cover mind, body, emotions, spirit, and soul in your blood. Father, bring light into all dark areas with truth and grace, and help them see and soften their hearts to receive truth and correction. Father God, cause them to respect me for standing firm and to respect authority. Help them realize that we have laws and rules for freedom and protection, even though it doesn't seem like freedom. Help them see what looks like control as an act of love. Guide them in a way they can truly understand and also help them see my heart. I pray that you'd take charge of what is going on in our home so that no one will be lost or tempted, that the enemy will not prevail. I pray that you'd pierce their hearts and bring them back to me, knowing the truth about me, and bring them back to you, to your word, and choosing you and your way. I pray for deliverance from their enemies, bullies, heartbreak, failure, wrong mindsets that have left them broken, shame, loneliness, fear, and give the help they need in all areas where they need it. Be their Father, their friend, their counselor, their everything.
Bring us closer as a family! Give us new things we can do to help us bond and help us break habits that would lead us astray or open spiritual doors. Help us guard ourselves and help them guard themselves. Preserve their childlike innocence for as long as it can be. Lord, there are kids with disabilities who struggle more than most; help them find their place and help parents with what they need to remember about their kids and these disabilities. I pray over all healing; cover us all now as we are trying to manage. Show us how we can be set apart successfully in this modern world and not miss anything. I pray they would learn to love what you love and hate what you hate. Increase their faith, in Jesus' name, amen.
God shared a message though someone else to confirm a word I gave and there is a bit of confirmation concerning this here .
