The spiritual battle behind Epilepsy

Updated: Nov 30, 2025

When my daughter was about three years old, she began experiencing seizures. Before these episodes, we encountered phenomena that many experience but are rarely discussed within the church. This reluctance often arises from the church's division on the topic. There are numerous ideologies related to the supernatural, and I noticed that even discussions about the miracles and certain actions of Jesus tend to provoke controversy and conflict.

I faced challenges in my own home regarding this issue, which created significant tension. Underlying this tension was a lot of fear. The church's division over the subject fosters insecurity among people, leaving us uncertain about what to accept.

I remember being a stay-at-home mother to my very sweet baby girl. While all young children possess a certain purity, I sensed something different about my daughter. For instance, when she was first born, she could fix her eyes on objects and follow them. It always seemed as though she was observing something. As she grew, I noticed more peculiarities. One day, as she was playing, she suddenly seemed fluent in her speech, which was beyond her age. When I observed her, she was looking upwards as if staring at someone and speaking with unusual intelligence. I inquired about her imaginary friend, and she mentioned he wouldn't reveal his identity, only that he wanted to be her friend. The conversation shifted, and her body language changed as she said this man didn't like me.

She began experiencing night terrors and spoke about seeing people, shadows, and feeling things. I noticed strange occurrences as well. I have always been aware of spiritual gifts, having experienced them myself, and recognized what was happening. Sometimes, I saw and felt the very things she did. She started becoming afraid of this man and described something terrible when I asked her about it. I felt led by the spirit to pray, and it was revealed to me that there were demonic presences in my house. I began covering my home and daughter in prayer, which marked a turning point. She sought comfort from her father, but we were dismissed as crazy. I was accused of various things. I assured my daughter that I believed her and encouraged her to share with me. However, whatever was around her instilled fear in her, preventing her from coming to me. This was because whatever it was knew who I was spiritually and perceived me as a threat to their intentions. I hesitated to bring this to the church, having witnessed how churches, including my own, handle such matters. While we discuss Satan and devils as true adversaries of God, actual encounters often receive little support.

Shortly after these occurrences, she began having seizures. The seizures were rationalized by educated doctors, whose explanations made sense but did not fully address everything. The truth is, there is still much unknown about epilepsy. My daughter quickly experienced multiple types of seizures, and we were offered a study to be conducted on her. I declined, as my daughter is not a scientific experiment. I recognized this was more than a medical condition; it was also a spiritual condition.

I understood that even the medical aspect was caused by something non-physical. Anything opposing God is influenced by Satan, including illness. Sickness and death are not from God, so I knew Satan was involved at the root of this issue.

I embarked on my own study because I felt isolated and could only imagine what my child was enduring. Her ability to speak began to diminish. Although she could still speak, she rarely did, likely because the enemy wanted to silence her after she shared so much with me, and I was quick to recognize the truth. There is a profound spiritual connection to epilepsy, and I am writing not just to share her story but to provide understanding for those who have experienced similar situations. I hope our story inspires others to come forward, and together we can navigate this challenge. I can share my learnings and insights, comparing them to biblical perspectives on epilepsy and other illnesses and their spiritual connections. I aim to highlight the supernatural aspect of these issues and invite you to gain understanding. Here, you are safe to explore controversial subjects. I do not judge, as I come from the same place as many who are unsure where to turn. Please stay tuned for the next part of this story.
